'NotFilm', Beckett Documentary

Recently I learned that 1969 Nobelist Samuel Beckett (1906-1989) wrote the screenplay for a 24-minute motion picture starring Buster Keaton, Film (1965), which is the subject of an in-production feature-length documentary, NotFilm (Milestone Films), by filmmaker and archivist Ross Lipman. The trailer for NotFilm is on Vimeo and at FILM and NotFilm.

The clip below, taken from the documentary, includes a rare audio recording of Beckett speaking with director Alan Schneider. (Beckett's voice is known to be on just five extant recordings.) Lipman's documentary also features images from location searches, previously unseen camera tests, restored outtakes and audio, and interviews.

Film's producer was Barney Rosset, founder of Grove Press; its cinematographer was Boris Kaufman.  The UCLA Film & Television Archive restored Film.

My thanks to A Piece of Monologue, where I first saw the clip.
