Thursday's Three on Art

Today, Thursday's Three spotlights a trio of art books coming in April.

The Designer's Dictionary of Color (Abrams Books, April 11, 2017) ~ Sean Adams examines in-depth 30 colors considered essential to art and design. Two hundred fifty-six pages, with 250 color illustrations, the book is organized in color-by-color sections and includes charts depicting color range and palette variations. The history and cultural associations of each color, as well as examples of each color's use, are presented. Print and e-book formats are available.

Co-Art: Artists on Creative Collaboration (Phaidon, April 24, 2017) ~ Independent curator and writer Ellen Mara De Wachter talks with 25 art-world pairs and groups, including Allora & Calzadilla, Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, Guerrilla Girls, and Los Carpinteros, about their artistic collaborations.

Alberto Giacometti, Yves Klein: In Search of the Absolute (Gagosian/Rizzoli, April 11, 2017) ~ Joachim Pissarro, director of Hunter College Galleries, Hunter College, New York City, comprises two volumes. Volume I includes for each artist archival images and detailed, illustrated chronologies as well as essays by Pissarro, independent art historian Danielle Peterson Searls, Cecilia Braschi, Gagosian London's director and senior curator Richard Calvocoressi, and independent curator and museum director Catherine Grenier. Volume II offers color plates of all works displayed in Gagosian Gallery's 2016 London exhibition and images of installations.
