✭ Currently showing at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts is "David Brooks: Continuous Service Altered Daily". On view through August 26, the exhibition, commissioned by The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, features David Brooks's use in his installation of every single part of a used 1976 John Deere 3300 combine harvester. As described in the exhibition announcement, the machine parts, ranging from an unaltered cab to tires, electrical wiring, bolts, rubber hoses, and gears and fittings, "are laid out in varying degrees of disassembly" and according to "Brooks's imposed taxonomy". The idea behind the show is to "reexamine our perception of products gleaned from the landscape, oftentimes those too easily interpreted as "services" for personal use: water, food, clean air, climate, energy—things we have come to expect to be delivered to us forever."
